Project Manager
Over twenty-five years of experience in project management, project controls and systems engineering. Published and presented technical papers. Panel member for several energy monitoring and control symposia and conferences. Developed, implemented and tested specialized software package intended for use with DEC processors (VAX series) for a variety of industrial applications. Team leader of experts chartered with responsibility of describing functions of various levels of hierarchical computer control in industrial environments. Managed staff of 45 engineers. Handled systems integration and project management functions for large integrated metals producer.

Power Demand Computer Replacement, Project Coordinator - Wrote the definition document, designed the replacement computer and PLC system hardware and software for a mid-western steel company. Lead the implementation team to project completion.

Hot Scarfing Facility, Project Manager - Responsible for design, implementation and installation of the complete facility including automation and systems engineering.

Project Manager - Electric arc furnace bottom tapping engineering design and procurement.

Project Manager - Cold mill auto work roll changer.

Positions:
Regional Operations Program Manager - Responsible for execution of time and materials and firm fixed price contracts of manufacturing automation projects in the Midwest and Southeast section of the country. Consulted in India regarding levels of automation in the steel industry.

Senior Staff Engineer - Responsible for long-range planning, workforce staffing, technology assessment and overall training coordination functions. Supervised the development of a proprietary software package, a real time data acquisition and monitoring system for VAX mainframes, used extensively in steel industry applications.

Project Architect
Over thirty years experience in the design of process-automation computer systems. Specialist in real-time operating system internals, computer system architecture, networking software and distributed computing. Successfully managed several large capital projects involving complex network of hierarchical computer systems. Computer consultant currently working in areas of Windows NT real-time client/server development, CNC control, process system modernization and computer architecture.

Projects:
Modernized a steel plant power demand computer system and converted assembly language code in a PDP11/RSX11M system to equivalent C-language programs in an OpenVMS/Alpha system.

Converted drivers for an aging PDP11 Unibus computer for a Hot Strip Mill to run on new single-board Q-bus machine.

Assembled multi-node computer network to do future development in client/server real-time systems, Windows NT device drivers and Linux based active-server-pages programs.

Designed and managed the development of a real-time Windows NT system that collected and distributed production and plant generation data for a coke facility.

Positions:
Project Manager - Successfully designed, managed and implemented an Order Fulfillment System; a customer order tracking software system from order entry through production tracking and to final shipping and billing, for a large midwestern steel company.

Senior Staff Engineer - Managed the design, procurement, installation and startup of the integration of a distributed network of over thirty different process-automation, business, laboratory and maintenance systems to control every aspect of production, product tracking and material handling for a steel finishing facility.

Systems Engineer - Supervised a central team of operations system specialists that developed process data scan and control software libraries used in the implementation of automation systems.

Web Developer
Over two years of Web design, SQL database development and customer relationship management in the e-commerce environment. Worked in VB, VBScript, JAVA, ASP and C++. Have also worked with Oracle for a material handling/warehouse system. Designed internet tracking system for customer management of orders, order status and vendor supply. Developed a voice recognition software program for client tracking system.

Legacy Software Specialist
Set up a simulator for modeling plant computers at two major power plants. Converted major subsystems from FORTRAN TO C++ and analyzed, tested and resolved Y2K compliance status. Prepared and customized Special Nuclear Material tracking software for Nuclear Power systems. Designed, implemented and maintained major subsystems of a major utility companys proprietary operating system; a multiprocessor, shared memory system for process control. Adept in several assembly languages, FORTRAN, C, C++, Visual Basic and Pascal. Worked with UNIX, Vxworks, Solaris 2, DOS and Windows.
